Cookie Policy
This policy explains how VeltHaven uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, what they do, and how you stay in control of them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, we only place cookies that are not strictly necessary on your device after you have given your consent. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt because the site cannot work without them.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember your actions and preferences, help it function, and allow us to understand how it is used. We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags and local storage — we refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.
Cookies may be:
- First-party — set by VeltHaven, or third-party — set by another organisation (such as Google or Meta).
- Session — deleted when you close your browser, or persistent — kept for a set period.
2. Your consent and how to control cookies
When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie banner. You can:
- Accept all cookies,
- Reject all non-essential cookies (this is as easy as accepting), or
- Choose which categories you allow.
Non-essential cookies (functional, analytics and marketing) are not set until you opt in. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in our website footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Changing your browser settings is another way to control cookies — see section 6.
3. The categories of cookies we use
| Category | What it does | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Core functions: page navigation, security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choices, and processing your enquiry or order. | No — always on |
| Functional | Remembers preferences that make the site easier to use. | Yes |
| Analytics | Helps us understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. | Yes |
| Marketing | Used to measure advertising and show you content relevant to you across other websites. We do not currently set any marketing cookies — see section 4.4. | Yes |
4. The specific cookies we use
This list is maintained by hand and reflects what the site actually sets, checked against the live site. If we add or remove a cookie, we update this section. The "Cookie Preferences" panel is where you control them.
4.1 Strictly necessary
These are exempt from consent because the site cannot do what you have asked of it without them.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
fazcookie-consent | VeltHaven (first-party) | Stores the cookie choices you made, so we do not ask again on every page | 1 year |
We also use your browser's session storage — not a cookie — to hold the options you pick in the configurator, so your design survives a page reload. It is first-party, never sent to our servers, and your browser discards it when you close the tab.
If you are signed in to the WordPress admin area (staff only), WordPress sets wp-settings-* cookies to remember your admin interface preferences. These are never set for ordinary visitors.
4.2 Functional
Live chat. Our live chat is provided by GoHighLevel, and is the same AI assistant described in our Privacy Policy. The chat panel loads only when you open it — nothing is stored in your browser for it until you do. Once open, it uses browser storage to keep your conversation going as you move between pages and to remember that you have a conversation open, so you are not asked the same questions twice.
The chat sets no cookies at all. Everything it stores is kept in your browser's own local and session storage, under these names ({locationId} and {widgetId} are fixed identifiers for our account and our chat panel):
| Name | Storage | Purpose | Kept until |
|---|---|---|---|
{locationId}_{widgetId}_lead-connecter-live-widget-message-data | Local | Holds your conversation so it survives a page change | Until you clear site data |
v2_history_{locationId} | Local | Which pages you viewed during the chat, so the assistant has context | Until you clear site data |
v2_session_history_{locationId} | Local | The same, for the current visit | Until you clear site data |
v2_contact_session_{locationId}_session_id | Local | Ties your messages to one conversation | Until you clear site data |
v2_user_session_event_{locationId}_fingerprint | Local | Recognises this browser as the same chat visitor | Until you clear site data |
v3_first_session_event_{locationId} | Local | Records that this was your first chat session | Until you clear site data |
{locationId}lead-connecter-text-widget-prompt-dismissed | Local | Remembers you closed the chat prompt, so it stops reappearing | Until you clear site data |
lead-connecter-text-widget-input-values | Local | Keeps what you had typed if you close the panel mid-message | Until you clear site data |
{locationId}_{widgetId}_request_token | Session | Security token for the chat connection | Until you close the tab |
_cltk | Session | GoHighLevel's per-visit chat identifier | Until you close the tab |
i18n.en-gb | Session | Remembers the panel's language (UK English) | Until you close the tab |
Because that storage exists solely to deliver the chat you asked for, it is exempt from the consent requirement under PECR regulation 6(4). It is never used to track you across other websites, and it is never set if you do not open the chat.
Apart from the live chat, we do not currently set any functional cookies. If we add one, it will be listed here and gated behind the Functional toggle before it is set.
4.3 Analytics
Not set unless you opt in.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps the analytics session going as you move between pages | 2 years |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Links this visit to your other visits, so page-use data is consistent | 1 year |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Groups the pages you view in one visit into a single session | 1 day |
CLID | Microsoft Clarity (clarity.ms) | Identifies the browser for Clarity's page-use analysis | 1 year |
vh_attrib | VeltHaven (first-party) | Records how you first arrived at our site, so we can tell which pages and sources bring people in | 90 days |
vh_ai_source | VeltHaven (first-party) | Records that you arrived from an AI assistant, and which one | 90 days |
4.4 Marketing
We do not currently set any marketing or advertising cookies. We do not run advertising campaigns. The Marketing category is switched off in our consent manager, so advertising storage is never enabled and the Google advertising cookie _gcl_au is not written.
If we ever start advertising, we will list every cookie here and gate it behind the Marketing toggle before any of them is set. We will not rely on a previously given consent to start setting a new category of cookie.
5. Cookie Preferences
You can review and change your consent at any time:
- Click "Cookie Preferences" in the footer of any page to reopen the preference panel.
- Withdrawing consent stops the relevant cookies from being set going forward. Cookies already stored can be removed via your browser (section 6).
6. Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies through their settings. Helpful guides:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
Please note: blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working properly.
You can also opt out of some analytics and advertising directly, for example via Google's ad settings and the Your Online Choices tool (youronlinechoices.com).
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our website and the law evolve. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes affecting non-essential cookies will be reflected in the consent banner.
