Why an insulated steel building

Built like steel. Finished like a home.

  • Engineered steel frame — bolted, not poured; built for decades of everyday use.
  • Warm, dry, no condensation — 100mm PIR holds heat in and keeps damp off cold steel.
  • Ready to live with — insulated sectional door, wired and shelved for a workshop, gym or hobby room.
  • Take it with you — it bolts together, so it can be dismantled and moved if you relocate.

The warmth and permanence of a brick build — delivered in days, not months — and warm and dry where a thin metal garage is cold and damp.

How it's built

Built on a steel frame, clad in 100mm PIR panels

An engineered steel frame carries walls and a roof of single insulated panels — two steel skins bonded to a rigid PIR foam core, locked together with a concealed tongue-and-groove joint. The same insulated steel build as our garden rooms. 100mm PIR core · steel skin both sides · wall U-value 0.23 W/m²K.

About planning

Planning permission — what to expect

Within 2 m of a boundary the permitted-development height cap is 2.5 m. Our flat / rear-pitch models stay within it, so they are typically no-permit even close to a fence or wall; the taller apex roof may need a planning application when sited that close. Set further back, our apex models are typically within the 4 m PD limit. We assess your plot — heights, roof type and distance to boundaries — and tell you clearly what's required before you commit. It is a routine step we handle with you. Read our planning guide →

Our recommendation

A warm shell turned into a true year-round room

What's included / what's separate

Included: the building, insulated door, side door, window, guttering, delivery, installation, VAT, and the VeltHaven 10-Year Structural Warranty (2 years full warranty + structural cover to year 10).

Quoted separately after a site assessment: the level base/slab it sits on. Electrical packages include connection and certification on a standard connection; only non-standard conditions (trenching, long runs, a board upgrade) are quoted on top — always before you commit.

Why PIR?

PIR foam has one of the lowest thermal conductivities of any insulation material — significantly better than standard mineral wool. That means a thinner wall delivers the same warmth, keeping your garage dry, temperature-stable, and free from condensation year-round. The steel-skinned sandwich panel also resists rodents, mould, and mechanical impact in a way that brick or timber simply cannot. Every panel is independently tested and carries a CE mark under EN 14509.

Common questions

Insulated Garages FAQ

What's included in the price of an insulated garage?

The price includes the building, insulated automatic sectional door, side door, window, guttering, delivery, installation and VAT — all fully installed from £26,950. The level base/slab it sits on is quoted separately after a site assessment, and any non-standard electrical work is quoted from your site photos before you commit.

How long does it take from order to finished garage?

Your building is manufactured to order, which takes around 2–6 weeks depending on specification. Once it is ready and your base is in place, delivery and installation are usually completed in a single day. We confirm your installation date once your deposit is paid and your site photos have been reviewed.

Do I need planning permission for an insulated garage?

Within 2 m of a boundary the permitted-development height cap is 2.5 m. Our flat / rear-pitch models stay within it, so they are typically no-permit even close to a fence or wall; the taller apex roof may need a planning application when sited that close. We assess your plot and tell you clearly what's required before you commit. Read our full planning guide →

Do I need to prepare a base before installation?

Yes — your garage needs a level, engineered base or slab of the correct size. This is quoted separately, from your site photos, after a site assessment, and always agreed with you before manufacture begins.

What warranty is included?

Every insulated garage includes the VeltHaven 10-Year Structural Warranty: 2 years full warranty covering all parts and workmanship, plus structural cover extending to year 10. This does not affect your statutory rights.

What colours are available?

Anthracite RAL 7016 is our standard signature colour, with 10 RAL finishes and 2 woodgrain options available.
